Louie Obreza

Hi there! I'm Louie, and I have the privilege of serving as an elder here at Community Church, where I focus primarily on working with the deaconesses, especially alongside Fran. She's wonderful and deeply dedicated to overseeing communion and baptisms. My role often involves assisting with these sacraments, ensuring everything runs smoothly. It's quite fulfilling, though at times it can be challenging.

Being an elder is a humbling experience for me. I often wonder why I was chosen for this role, but it's an honor, and I approach it with a sense of responsibility. There are difficult moments, but also many rewarding ones. I like to remind myself of Paul's words, considering myself the weakest among the elders. It keeps me grounded and constantly aware of the serious nature of our work.

On a personal note, I've been married to my incredible wife, Debbie, for 54 years. We have two wonderful daughters and four amazing grandkids, all following the Lord, which is the greatest blessing.

My journey with Community Church started in 1983. I was brought up Catholic and even considered becoming a priest at one point. However, a friend introduced me to Bible prophecy through Hal Lindsey's "The Late Great Planet Earth," which changed my life. This led us to leave the Catholic Church and eventually find our home here at Community Church.

My passion lies in sharing the Lord with others. I love talking about my faith, especially with those from different backgrounds. I also enjoy spending time with my family and supporting my grandkids in their sports. Outside of church, I like to work out, play with model trains, and keep my yard neat.

To anyone seeking to grow in their faith, I'd say dive into the Bible. It's life-changing and essential, especially in today's world. As James 1:22 says, "Be doers of the word, and not hearers only." It's challenging but incredibly rewarding.

Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about my journey. God bless!
