Bill Buffington Jr.

My name is Bill, and I serve as the Lead Elder and liaison to the music ministry at Community Church. My role involves staying connected with various church activities, ensuring smooth communication, and addressing emerging issues promptly. Essentially, I act as an external consultant, bringing significant concerns to the attention of the elders.

As the Chairman of the Elders, I liken my job to herding the flock. With at least nine dedicated individuals, I facilitate discussions, manage the agenda, and keep the team focused.

My journey with Community Church began nearly 50 years ago when my children were young. After visiting various churches, our family chose Community Church, a decision driven by my children's preference.

I have two children: a son who sadly passed away from cancer and a daughter, Jennifer, who is strong-willed and independent. I have been married to my wife for nearly 55 years.

My passion is to share the love of my Savior with everyone I encounter, striving to live a life that reflects my faith. A significant moment for me was realizing I wanted my faith to be evident to everyone, never wanting anyone to doubt my devotion.

In my free time, I enjoy golfing and traveling, particularly to the south. If given the chance, I would love to live there.

A transformative experience for me was participating in the Colossians 2:7 series, a Navigator's course designed to foster deep spiritual growth and accountability. This two-year program involved weekly meetings, Bible study, memorization, and open discussions about spiritual journeys. It helped me develop a close bond with my prayer partner, Jack. For those interested, more information can be found on the Navigator's website.

I emphasize the importance of having someone for spiritual accountability, a role my father once filled and which Jack now fulfills. It's crucial to have someone who offers guidance and support beyond what even a spouse can provide.
