Show Choir Camp

It’s About Watching God reach children, one life at a time
Show Choir 2026

Every year when Show Choir Camp got close, I felt the same knot in my stomach. I watched the signups, counted volunteers, checked the snack list, and wondered if we were going to have enough. We usually had more than 80 kids, but this year we only reached 63. At first, that number worried me. By the end of the week, I knew 63 had been exactly enough.
Even before camp started, our church stepped up in the way it always had. When the volunteer list looked thin, people kept signing up. When I wondered how we would cover snacks, we ended up with more than we needed. Friends reached out and asked how they could help. It reminded me again that this ministry was never something I carried by myself. God kept providing through his people.
What made the week especially meaningful was who came. Most of the kids were not from our church, instead seven different schools were represented. Many of them did not come from church backgrounds. That gave every conversation, every rehearsal, and every quiet moment a little more weight.
All week we prayed, read Scripture, and talked about who Jesus is. On Thursday, I told the kids that if anything mattered, it was not the solos or the dancing. It was the chance to hear how much God loved them. I shared how I had first trusted Jesus in this church when I was young, and then I led them in a prayer to begin that same relationship with Him. When I asked those who prayed to raise a hand so I could keep praying for them, I started counting but I felt the Lord tell me to stop. This was not about the number. It was about each child being seen and loved by Him.
I saw that same truth in so many small moments. Teenagers who had once come through camp returned to serve and lead younger kids in prayer. A girl who felt God nudging her to help showed up and blessed everyone all week. A thank-you note even came with $25 from a piggy bank so another child could come next year.
I went into the week worried, but I came out of it amazed. God met us in my weakness, in our church’s generosity, and in the hearts of these kids. What stayed with me most was simple: it was never about the numbers. It was about watching God reach young people, one life at a time.
