There is Power in Prayer

Evening Prayer Service
Last year, Mike challenged me to create a prayer service that would bring people together after our church's Week of Prayer. We had all been praying individually—sometimes with family, sometimes alone—but we needed a chance to gather as a church and pray over those same requests collectively. It was a special time of worship, prayer, and seeking the Holy Spirit’s direction. It was wonderful, so we decided to do it again after this year's prayer focus.
The service wasn’t like a typical Sunday morning or Hymn Sing. It was less structured, open to movement, and deeply personal. People were encouraged to stand, come to the altar, or pray where they were. The Holy Spirit led, and we followed. We lifted up specific needs, prayed for one another, and saw the power of intercessory prayer in action. One of the most touching moments for me was when a man I prayed with realized the request he’d been given to pray over was exactly what he needed in his own life. It was a quiet, powerful reminder of how God orchestrates even the smallest details.
Joseph also shared about the students he connects with, many from non-Christian homes, and we prayed over parents and grandparents who can be spiritual influences. It reminded me that people today—young and old—are hungry for something real. Prayer is that connection to God’s power, and He hears us. He answers, even when it’s not in the way or timing we expect. This service wasn’t just a meeting; it was a moment to realign our hearts with Him.
