Skates, Snacks and Spiritual Connections

February Skate Night

Skate Night is always a highlight of our year. We host it twice—once in November and again in February. Interestingly, the turnout is remarkable: nearly 200 people in November and about 115 in February.

One of the most exciting parts was seeing families from Good News Club join us. We had four families attend, and since then, two have visited a Sunday morning service. It’s amazing to see connections forming beyond school into our church community.

Skate Night itself is simple: we rent out the skating rink when they’re closed, provide free snacks and drinks, and just enjoy a great night together. Parents or an adult must accompany each child, which gives me a chance to talk with parents and grandparents while the kids skate. That time to connect is invaluable. This year, we also had a special opportunity to pray with the rink owner, who was facing a small medical procedure. God creates relationships in unexpected places!

Looking ahead, Kids Ministry is full of exciting changes. We’re promoting Vacation Bible School earlier, and parents are already asking about it. We’re also shifting to a new curriculum, **The Gospel Project**, to better disciple children and partner with families. With so many young families joining our church, we’re working to grow in ways that serve them in ways that meet their needs.  It’s an exciting season, and I can’t wait to see how God moves!
