Bingo, Laughs and Fellowship

Seniors January Luncheon
In January, Encore had its first senior’s luncheon of the year. Admittedly, it wasn’t the festive gathering like our December event, but it left everyone smiling just the same. We knew folks might be tired after the holiday rush, so we planned something simple yet fun—Bingo! And let me tell you, it was a hit.
We enjoyed a delicious spread of fried chicken, sides, and salads, followed by 12 games of "Dirty Bingo," where the prizes were white elephant gifts. Many of the gifts came from re-gifting committee donations, which added an extra layer of humor. The twist? Participants could steal each other’s gifts before opening their own! This playful back-and-forth really livened things up, especially when a few hot-ticket items kept changing hands.
During the second game, I tipped the bin, and 20 numbers came tumbling out onto the floor. I thought I had fastened the lid but…. And of course, everyone got a good laugh watching me crawl around retrieving them.
Looking ahead, Seniors ministry is focused on fostering fellowship and community while we aim to welcome everyone, nurture connections that go beyond events or meals. Whether it’s through small acts—like visiting shut-ins, delivering cookies, or helping with home projects—our goal is to reflect God’s love in action. Ultimately, it’s about reminding our seniors they are a cherished part of the church family.
