A Break, A Blessing, A Reset

Mountainside Weekend
This past Mountainside Weekend was a special time for our middle and high school students—a chance to step away from the busyness of school and life to focus on their faith. We designed the retreat with Jesus’ example in mind, pulling away—just as He did on the mountaintop—to rest, pray, and connect with God.
Our time together included powerful messages, breakout sessions, and personal devotional time. Students had the chance to explore spiritual topics that mattered most to them through small-group discussions. This year, we introduced something new—our leaders facilitated these discussions, bringing fresh perspectives and personal experiences. Some groups explored who the Holy Spirit is, while others discussed how to invite friends to church. It was incredible to see students’ understanding deepen and their faith grow in such a short time.
But Mountainside wasn’t all serious—we had plenty of fun, too! We visited spots like Topgolf, K1 Speed, and Dave & Buster’s. Topgolf, in particular, stood out as a highlight. It wasn’t just about hitting golf balls; the relaxed atmosphere gave leaders and students time to chat, grow relationships, and build trust.
Unlike other trips that connect us with the larger church community, Mountainside is just for our group. We intentionally keep costs low so every student can participate, removing financial barriers. More than anything, this weekend provided a much-needed reset, helping students take their next steps in faith.
