Pastor Todd's Ordination

Equipping Families, Leading with Heart

When Todd began his ordination journey nearly three years ago, we both knew it wouldn’t be an easy path—but we also knew it would be worth it.  What does ordination mean here at Community Church?  Well, it's not just a title but a public affirmation that a man is biblically grounded, ready for pastoral responsibility, and has shown both heart and knowledge to lead well. It’s our way of saying, “You can trust this man.”

We don’t rush that process. While many churches may treat ordination too lightly, we believe it should be taken seriously. So Todd studied thirteen major areas of theology—everything from the doctrine of Scripture, the Trinity, and end times, to practical issues like the nature of worship and spiritual warfare. He read multiple books on each topic, then we’d meet for hours of conversation where he was challenged not just to know doctrine, but to defend it biblically and apply it in real ministry situations.

The process culminated in a four-hour ordination council with church elders and pastors, where Todd was examined on all he had studied. He passed with high affirmation from everyone involved.

What impressed me most, though, was his heart. Todd didn’t just pursue knowledge—he pursued growth. He’s shown great love for children and families, with a vision to equip parents and disciple kids with depth and intention. That’s why we affirmed him not just as Children’s Director, but as Pastor of Children and Families.

Like Paul spoke of Timothy, I see in Todd someone with proven worth—a man not just doing a job, but living a calling. I’m proud of who he is and excited for what God will do through him.
