e recently had our Encore luncheon, and it was an event to remember. We hosted about 65 people, which is a solid turnout, even though a few familiar faces were missing. This month, we enjoyed six different types of chili, each one made by some of our members. It was the perfect meal for the season, even though the weather didn’t exactly require a soul-warming dish.
One of the highlights was the music. John Case brought his group, "John’s Little Big Band," and they performed around 40 minutes of classic Bing Crosby tunes. Their music created a warm, nostalgic atmosphere that everyone enjoyed. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, laugh, and just enjoy the company of one another.
Our guest speaker was from Summit Missions, and he shared his experiences as a missionary. It was inspiring to hear how he’s taken up this role in our local community after spending years in the mission field. He talked about the amazing work the church has done to support missions, and it was clear how excited he is to be part of this organization.
These luncheons offer more than just a meal—they provide a chance to reconnect with others and check in on our senior community. We’ve even started an assistance program, helping those who might need a little extra support. It’s a great way to make sure no one feels left behind, and I look forward to seeing where this journey takes us.
